UMichigan or HKU?

I am from Taiwan, but I have friends in MANY countries including the US and HK. I would say, in general, HK unis’ graduates will be workers, but top US unis’ graduates could be innovaters. HK unis cannot give you an education that gives you “critical thinking”.(Again, it’s just based on my experience. eg, my friends in Harvard, Berkeley, CUHK, Beijin U, etc.)

Peers is very important imo. But China is a huge market, and you probably can get to know China more while in HK( HKers and Chinese are far different ppl though). According to Business Week, there’s a trend in Aisa to go to Chinese unis. The benefits are that many ppl find their business partners while in college and start a new business right after graduation. But again, this is China, and Chinese are very different from HKers.

All in all, if I were you and I could afford UMich, I will go to UMich.
