UMichigan or HKU?

Was this statement made with “critical thinking”? Well, let’s look further:

Are your friends in Harvard/Berkeley international students from Taiwan or Asia? If so, these are some of the best of the best students from Asia. Not too mention they may be weathy with connections. When I have two cohorts from HK, of course the grads that are educated in top US universities are gonna look better than the grads that go to HK universities on average. Because you know what? You have to be the best of the best (say top 5%) to get into top US colleges while you need to be the top 1/3 or 1/4 to be in HK universities. Those that go to the top US colleges are more qualified on average to begin with and BEFORE they even step out of HK

Granted, US colleges in general are more liberal-arts based and may be more well-rounded but you are exaggerating the difference. You seriously think HK can be the #3/#4 financial center in the world with virtually no natural resources if it’s just run by bunch of robots?
