UMSL or UMKC? Average IL student

I’m a senior who’s taking the SAT for the first time with the assumption that I’ll get a score between 1600-1800. I’ve been homeschooled since grade school and I want to major in either Psychology, Social Work, or Art and take pre-med courses.

My top choices are SIU, EIU, and Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA (Family there, want to see the ocean) with UIC as a safety.

I was thinking about Blackburn College, but I don’t know if doing required work study would hurt my grades… I need a lot of help with math. If anyone knows anything about work study or Blackburn, I’d appreciate your comments.

> My other choice is between University of Missouri St. Louis and University of Missouri Kansas City. I know Kansas City has a 6 year medical program, but I doubt I’ll be accepted and I worry that I might be overshadowed by the people in that program. Do you think that’s a possibility?

I don’t have a lot of money to spare, so that’s why I’m asking. If I manage to get a job in the next few months I’ll apply everywhere, but I’m limiting myself to 8 schools that I can send scores to with my ACT and SAT sends.

What state are you from?

I said which state in the title… I’m considering these schools because of the Midwest discount.

I’m a resident of Missouri. And I know for a fact that Missouri’s 6-year medical program is very rigorous. In fact, a family friend tried to do it. She ended up dropping out and becoming a regular college. She did eventually attend and graduate from medical school–at the University of Chicago.

With regard to money: Could you live for a year at home and work during that time to earn money? You could probably save up a few thousands during that time. Another option is to attend a community college for two years and transfer to a 4-year school; community colleges are unbelievably affordable.

Here’s some information that I found about Blackburn College: [Blackburn College - School Overview - Cappex](<a href=“College Search Database: Find Your College Match | Cappex”>http://www.■■■■■■■■■■/colleges/Blackburn-College)

Can you try contacting Blackburn college students on FaceBook and sending them text messages?

Finally, here are few scholarships:

[Jason Mitchell Foundation - “No One Left Behind”](http://www.jbmfoundation.org/)

[Scholarships Ebony Ivory, Inc.](http://www.ebonyivoryinc.org/scholarships/)

I know it’s rigorous. That’s why I said I wouldn’t get in. Is it worth going without being in the program was my question.

Yeah, I’m going to try to get into Americorps NCCC or City year regardless. If that doesn’t happen, I’ll work during CC if I have to go. I know my other options and I’ll gladly take them if I have to, but I’m not asking about them now… I will choose the cheapest option that’s available, but I’m not going to not apply to four year colleges because I might not be able to pay.

Thank you for the scholarship information. I’ve already been to Cappex, so I’ll research Blackburn on my own.

Sorry this is blunt, but I always get the CC response. I guess this is the wrong place to ask.
