Unable to find a required course anywhere?

What if you can’t find a class at any CCC for example, the Berkeley EECS major needs astron 7A & B, but every CCC I look at doesn’t have it. Do you take those classes at the outreach program? Or is there a CCC that offers an equivalent to ASTRON 7A: Introduction to Astrophysics
Astron 7B: Introduction to Astrophysics
Comp Sci 61A: The Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs
El Eng 20N: Structure and Interpretation of Systems and signals
El Eng 40: Introduction to Microelectric Circuits
Comp Sci 70: Discrete Mathematics and Probability theory
Im not actually going for this major so don’t give me a long drawn out speach about how only gods could get into such an impacted major from a CCC.

If there is no articulated course offered at your CC for those that are listed on Assist, then you should make any attempts to go to a close neighboring CC to fill that major pre-req. However, if no CCs in your immediate surroundings offer an articulated course, then that’s how it is and UCs/CSUs will be aware of instances like this. Unless you want to have a huge commute, you can reasonably skip that major pre-req. If you are going for a major that permits it (so excluding Enginerring/CS types) it’s probably most suggested to become IGETC certified then to make up for the lack of having pre-reqs done - articulated equivalents or not.

Okay, yeah that makes sense. In a way if I could find a community college that offers it I wouldn’t mind the huge commute.

major pre-reqs > IGETC (excluding math and english), so yeah, if you can find a CC that is in reasonable (to you) commuting distance, then it should take priority.

Actually assist is saying that applicants to engineering schools (where computer science major is) shouldnt take IGETC because they have so many technical classes to take.

Right, that’s why I mentioned that major prereqs are > (greater than) IGETC in the pecking order.

EDIT: I typed it that way, but didn’t explain the difference there. So yes, for Engineering majors, pre-reqs > IGETC because of the amount of classes.
