Unbalanced SAT Score

Hey Guys,

So I received a 2030 SAT score (I know its low)- M750 W720 CR560. As you can see, it is extremely unbalanced and can send mixed messages to colleges. I am going to major in Biomedical Engineering. How much will this critical reading score affect my chances?

I am in the exact same boat as you with a 2010. (770 M 640 Wr 600 R).

I’m taking the test one more time but its a real downer at the moment and I am worried that colleges will not accept me because of the reading score. I want to study chemistry and medicine in college. If I was planning on being an English major it would look really bad, imo, but I don’t know if colleges look at it that sort of way.

ive heard that colleges would favor say a student with balanced scores but not as high combined score than say someone with a pretty high score with unbalanced scores : / i dont know too much on the chances though. im probably going to be in the same situation as you 2 because ive just been concentrating on my math and writing sections even though my CR needs the most help

A 2030 is NOT a low score. If you want to practice your CR questions and take it again - go ahead. With a writing score like yours, you will be able to get the CR up. Either way, you will have plenty of good options with a 2030, provided you have good grades and essays.

2030 is not low score.

Those are really good scores. Just saying. I’m sorry you’re stressed out, though!

Depends on the colleges that you are targeting. Your CR score is extremely low for Caltech and MIT, for example, who have a 25th% of 700 and 670, respectively. Johns Hopkins, known for a great BME program is 630.

I would retake, after focused study on the CR section. You can improve it a good deal.

I agree with BillyMc you should try to get the CR up closer to you other scores. With a higher score you would probably qualify for merit scholarships at some schools.
