Unbiased opinions/advice to choose between colleges?

Basically, I want advice and my friends and family are all extremely biased. The colleges I’m deciding between are Auburn University and Florida International University.

Auburn:
•I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!
•It’s like a family there.
•Everyone important in my life is either a fan, alumni, or attending this college.
•I LOVE SEC football and everything that goes along with it.
•It’ll cost me around $30,000-$40,000 a year (more than I want to spend).
•Going to watch games would be SO MUCH FUN!!! … But I don’t know if I’d want to play any offered here.
•I could double major in Marine Biology and Zoology, which would look great on an application/resume.
•I’m worried the double major will actually do more harm than good, due to a double major’s difficulty level.

FIU:
•I LOVE THIS SCHOOL!
•It’s in Miami, which is great because I love cities.
•I think I will have more fun in Miami with the beach, clubs, parties, etc.
•I’ll get a FULL RIDE to this school, PLUS money coming back. (LOVE THIS THOUGHT)
•Since money won’t be as tight here, I’ll probably get to do more such as studying abroad, sororities, etc.
•There are many more sports offered at FIU that I’d like to participate in… But going to games wouldn’t be as much fun because they’re not always very good.
•They have only Marine Biology (the major I would prefer if I could only have one), but I would get MUCH more in field experience in Miami, which is pretty valuable in what I want to do.

I’ll chime in without knowing a thing about the schools, just what you wrote:

FIU in a heartbeat.

Nearly free plus in Miami for Marine Biology. And I discount the party aspect, which you obviously don’t, so that’s a plus for you.

No contest.

FIU

Unless your family considers $160,000 to be chump change, there is no reason to choose Auburn in this scenario.

$120,000 to $160,000 of debt is generally considered far too much, especially when your intended career path probably has few good pay jobs relative to the number of new graduates seeking them.

FIU.

You can always cheer for the Hurricanes if you like big D1 football.

FIU is in NCAA Division I, Conference USA.

Marine biology in Miami on a full ride at a school I love? That’s a no brainer for me

FIU

FIU in a Miami Minute! I don’t have any bias here, and I think a full ride outweighs family tradition hands down and then some. As Emerson said, “Build, therefore, your own world.”
