<p>Per article at link below: UNC accepted 6036 of 16,987 early action applicants (my calculation–35.5%)</p>

<p>Stats of accepted students: 85% rank in top 10% of class; average SAT is 2044 (up from 2026); ACT 31.</p>

<p>Note: In last couple of years, the acceptance rate for early action has been in mid-30s. Regular deadline acceptance rate is significantly lower (in the teens.) On our visit to UNC, Admission staff told us that the same standards are applied in early and regular decisions, but the applicant pool for early action is significantly stronger. </p>

<p>The biggest jump appears to be from when they started accepting the Common Application. Otherwise, the increases seem pretty steady.</p>

<p>“Eighty-five percent of all admitted students who reported a rank are ranked in the top 10 percent of their class. The average SAT score rose 18 points, from 2026 to 2044. The average ACT score, 31, did not change.”</p>

<p>Don’t they also normally report the percentage who were either top or second rank in their class? I wonder why they skipped that this time…</p>
