UNC Chapel Hill Class of 2028 Official Thread

Can someone link the portal please

Curious to know whether folks on this thread, or generally, are aware that by state law “no more than 18%” of first-year out-of-state undergraduate students may enroll on most UNC campuses. For Chapel Hill, if you factor in varsity athletes and applicants whose parents attended UNC, there are virtually no spots left for out-of-state students. Don’t waste your money applying. For reference, a couple of years ago my kid from Virginia got into all the Virginia schools, Harvard, and Cornell, but not UNC.

Daughter was straight rejected oos RD applicant. Her stats were really strong and TO. Decision season has been brutal so far.

Exactly this. My OOS junior recently tells me they want to apply to UNC-CH. My dear sweet child, you are not an athlete therefore have a 0% chance of acceptance. You’re more likely to get into MIT.

I was actually accepted UNC full ride but rejected MIT but I get your point completely! :joy:

Recently? Non-athletic, non-need, merit aid? OOS?

Well, I’ll be damned!

I have a kid at MIT and my current junior has higher stats than that sibling did:) But the one at MIT had more National & state awards & EC’s

I got the Carolina Innovation Scholarship which covers the full cost outside of travel. I am OOS correct. Yeah, I had international awards and state champion awards (academic) but no AIME or USAMO so maybe that factored in.

Friend got into MIT EA and denied UNC. You are correct that UNC is a very difficult admit!
