Did they post the stats somewhere?

Daughter’s friend got a full ride. So happy for her as it’s the only way she’ll attend college.

Thank you! She’s auto admit to UT so it’s considered a safety school for her. She’s waiting to hear if she accepted into the very competitive McCombs school of business.

That’s what it says but in reality it’s the same as rd bc athletes and legacies apply early

Not a scientific assessment, I’m just guessing based on the trend I’ve been closely observing for the last 3 years. Someone posted the stats further up in the thread. I think there were around 42K EA applicants this year? with a 10% increase yoy? it’s further up in the thread (I’m a current parent w my older one, btw, and my second kid just got rejected)

For those who applied RD or for next year, one thing we noticed before clicking on the letter was this appeared. Not sure if it applied for kids denied, and it would only give a person a clue just before opening, but it made me feel hopeful as she clicked the link. (There was a name and number underneath.) Maybe others who didn’t get in have it too, though.

How did you find out? Where is this information on the portal?

So were you accepted just not to pre-entrance? What do you mean by likely letter?

There was a “special opportunities” link down the page that listed any money or honors programs if the students applied.

They sent me a letter in the mail that I would get in maybe a week ago. I did get in, but for prebusiness. Did not get into the business school and I can’t risk not being able to get into it later. So UNC is off the table for me.

Son OOS (Texas resident). Portal indicates “Waitlist”. Had applied for Mathematics. Rank in class - top 10%, SAT - 1530, strong in competition math (AMC/AIME) and heavy math centric extracurriculars. UNC was a “Reach” for him. Is “Waitlist” in UNC different/better than “Deferred”. Does UNC have “Deferred”?

UNC has no defer. Waitlist is basically a soft reject honsetly. They took under 50 last year.

D24 OOS- morehead Cain ARP semi finalist but didn’t progress further.
ACT 36
9 APs
Lots of EC in her intended field of study
Unweighted 3.8, weighted not sure as we don’t weight

Accepted but not honors.

Not a shock of no honors - those students are likely 4.0, super high test scores. There are in state 3.8 kids who are denied, so that is an awesome achievement!

DS24 OOS (CA) - Accepted!
No class rank or decile
1570 SAT / 34 ACT / 3.93UW (public school in Bay Area) / 12 APs (including senior year)
Eagle Scout / decent ECs (community service, volunteering, tutoring, etc.) / good essay
Engineering - no scholarship or honors offered

Now comes the harder decisions - we’ve been blessed to choose between UMich/UIUC/Purdue/UNC and waiting for UCs.
