Email for a decision update and got a new letter
Yes. The standard language “there is an update to your application status” email. It just came today.
Congrats! Just wanted to check if “Legacy” by any chance? Thanks
just got off the wait-list too! so freaking excited!!! we’re making it outta nj with this one
Yes, happened to my daughter’s friend last year on RD day. Congrats!
My D25 just got off the waitlist too!! Woohoo!!! OOS. She has some tough decisions to make now!
For those who got off the waitlist, did they send admissions any new information after they were initially waitlisted?
No new updates in our case.
no i did not send admissions any new details
a status update notification just randomly popped up in my email
Nope, UNC said not to send anything in their waitlist FAQ
Made it official today. S25 pressed the accept button, paid the deposit, and sent in his official SAT scores. He is a Tar Heel now!!!
Thanks and best of luck to everyone in this forum. This helped a lot during this uncertain process.
For those with admitted first year students;
My S24 will be Sophomore transfer this fall as a (presumably) 4.0 from Purdue Daniels School of Business with entering major at UNC slated to be Econ/Public Policy pending future application into Kenan Flagler Business School. He has T20 grad school / professional school aspirations.
As a transfer in, I don’t believe he will get priority student housing unless he has a specific roommate match request. We are Raleigh natives, and he has multiple friends from his high school and his club sports teammates who are already at Chapel Hill, but made their housing arraignments last fall.
He’s an extrovert, middle child between two sisters, plays soccer, lacrosse, basketball, and outdoor activities. He lived in a diverse triple dorm room this year and was the roommate who cleaned the room, does his own laundry, lives on a school, dining and workout schedule.
There may be some advantages to an incoming freshman to match up in this situation, especially if coming from out of state.
If your son would like his contact info to investigate, please reach out.
There is always Granville Towers for a place to live. It is actually closer to campus than the freshman dorm area (south campus) and is right on Franklin Street, so closer to where many stay in apartments, close to the frats, the clubs, etc. It is a private dorm, but still managed by Carolina Housing.
Thanks.
We’ve been looking at options since early fall. Granville Towers is on his list - we have several friends kids who have lived there over the years - as are Shortbread, The Union, The Warehouse. He’s actively campaigning for Carolina Square apartments for their amenities and location on Franklin St. Fairly pricey, but would still be cheaper than what we’ve spent to send him OOS to Purdue (and Purdue is a relative bargain for OOS tuition). Availability is questionable at CSquare. We could have picked up either a studio or a single earlier, but I’d rather he not live completely alone his first year on campus.
Yes, I would definitely not recommend an apartment alone for the first year. Shortbread is largely sorority girls and I think is sold out for next year, as are Union and Warehouse, but I am sure some people need 2nd semester abroad sublets. Granville is much more reasonable than CSquare and just as close.
Just turned down OOS admit. Kid wants to go to state engineering school…life long tarheel trying no to cry …oh well another waitlist spot opened!
S25 just in off the waitlist! Currently committed to UMD (in-state) for Psychology and pre-med.
Challenging week his decision was very difficult. Decided to stay with UMD
Waitlists are moving! just got off OOS. also decided to stay with UMD. Another spot for a tar heel
