UNC Chapel Hill OOS (dream school)

I’m a sophomore who attends a Math and Science Magnet high school in GA. My high school is in the top 50 for my state. As of right now I have a math team varsity letter, football varsity letter, completed 4 AP classes with A’s and B’s, 3.5 unweighted 4.125 weighted, and took all the way up to Spanish 4. I really enjoy chemistry so I’m planning to take all the post AP chemistry classes offered at my school such as organic chemistry and chemical engineering. Additionally I enjoy programming so I’m taking a programming pathway which involves 3 classes. Assuming I’m going to graduate out of my magnet high school and not transfer to a different high school, I’m going to end up with a magnet seal and close to 13 AP classes along taking a mandatory internship class my senior year. What are my chances as an OOS applying for UNC in two years? Are there any classes I should definitely take up to such as Spanish 5 to AP Spanish? Please help me out, this is the definite school I want to be accepted to in two years.

Since you’re OOS, it’s unlikely… It’s not that you’re unqualified, but due to laws in NC, around 80% of admitted students HAVE to be from NC. It sucks for people OOS. You definitely should apply to see but unfortunately, UNC is a reach since you’re OOS. Since you’re into science/programming, you should definitely consider Georgia Tech. Awesome engineering school and you’re in-state. Hope you get into UNC though! Good luck

What are your SAT and ACT scores? Those are more important than GPA. UNC doesn’t even look at GPA. They look at what classes you took, and your grades in those classes, and how challenging they were. They also look at ECs and SAT/ACT scores.
