I am a freshman at NCSU and was recently admitted as a transfer student to UNC, and I’m not sure if I should stay or if I should go. UNC has always been my dream school, partly because of its athletics, beautiful campus, and Chapel Hill as a whole. I like NCSU, but at the same time I wouldn’t miss it if I left. At NCSU, I plan to study Bus Admin with a Marketing concentration. I definitely want to have a job in some aspect of marketing. If I went to UNC, I would major in Journalism with a specialization in Advertising. I initially wanted to be a bus major there, but due to the high selectivity of getting in to the undergraduate b-school I’m not going to risk the chance ( I know a lot of people who go there planning to study bus and end up studying Econ due to the low admit rate). It just seems too dicey. If I want a job in marketing or a possibly a copywriter, what is the better choice? I’m also worried about the complex of being a journalism major, as everyone has been telling me I won’t be able to find a job and it’s a waste of time. Is there anything I can do with J-Advertising that I can’t do with Bus-Marketing? What is the better opportunity? NCSU’s business program has a lot of networking opportunities, but it doesn’t have the prestige that the UNC has. I also wonder if UNC has a stronger alumni network. Any feedback would be highly appreciated!!!
