<p>What are my chances of getting into either the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or the University of Vermont. I have a 3.8. I have 570 on each SAT category. I was an exchange student to Egypt my junior year. I played Varsity Socccer for two years. I was selected for the Bates College High School Honors Program and atteneded Bates College this year and received a ‘B’ in a sophomore level class. I have travelled all over the world. I attended a Buddhist Retreat every summer in France.</p>

<p>I would consider UNC Chapel Hill to be a reach for you. Every applicant needs almost perfect scores, 4.0++, to be accepted. I advise to raise your SAT scores.</p>

<p>^That’s not true. In the middle 50% of admitted applicants, the highest combined score would be a 2090 (source: collegeboard.com). </p>

<p>The 3.8 is solid. So, I would suggest taking the SAT again, study really hard and try to raise your total score up by 300+ points (100 points in each section). You can get in if you write a great essay and just bring those scores up, good luck!</p>

<p>Why don’t you try the ACT? Many people who do poorly on the SAT find that the ACT more accurately represents their potential.
Out of curiosity, what professor did you have for your college level class (you can PM me this info–I’m a bobcat)? He or she might be a good person to ask for a letter of recommendation…</p>

<p>UNC is going to be very difficult with your scores, are you an in state applicant? if not, i would get ready for school in vermont. you had moderate success at bates, maybe you should consider a small school.</p>
