@ReallyRaleigh Thanks -I had my son check the portal. OOS wait list. Oh well… Best of luck to your daughter.
Just got a laptop grant. I received an email at 7:42 pm on my heelmail account telling me to logon to my connect Carolina account and to look on my to-do list.
I was granted the full CCI ThinkPad L380 Laptop. However, I don’t see it listed on the UNC CCI website? Can anyone find it?
@theboyoverthere I could not find the laptop either
@gradclass2022 I figured out that it’s the lenovo Thinkpad 13 gen 2. I googled thinkpad L380 and its just another name for it.
@MaybeUNC2022 what is the cost of the laptop/ the grant
@breakfeastclub1234567890 it fully covers the Lenovo ThinkPad 13 Gen 2, which is $958 + tax. It can be used for more expensive options, but you would have to contribute the difference that the grant will not cover.
The laptop is not the same; they have updated the laptops for 2018: https://cci.unc.edu/files/2018/04/CCI-brochure-2018-web.pdf.
They are different every year.
@theboyoverthere it’s the third generation of the same laptop. the l380 is just newer with more updated features, and a quicker charge time which is a plus!
is housing guaranteed at unc for all 4 years
PBern Housing is not guaranteed but if you register for housing as soon as it opens you will get it. My son is an upcoming senior and lives on campus and always got his first choice as it signs up day it opens.
Hi, this is late in the game but my daughter, OOS, also got accepted in Math/Statistics major but we have not received any scholarship. Just wondering if you could share your daughter’s test scores or what you think put her over to qualify for scholarships. Thanks!
@ctmom3 UNC scholarships are very unpredictable and rather stats-blind in their nature. By this I mean that those with the highest test scores and grades aren’t necessarily shoe-ins for selection, but rather those with extremely strong essays, teacher recommendations, and other supplementary materials. It is extremely difficult to come by any type of merit scholarship from UNC with such a diverse and qualified pool. It should be more surprising to receive one than to not receive one, and many with stellar applications are frequently not given anything.
