Congratulations on all the great news! How many of your schools have co-valedictorians? D has never made anything but As. She’s got a 4.5 out of 5 wgpa and a 4.0 uw. She’s taken 9 APs, 16 honors, and is ranked around 14 out of 600+. There will be one val and one sal, who both likely took 13 APs. The gpa’s are probably separated by 0.001!
This is a very serious note to all parents…
If your child accepted the waitlist option and knows he or she IS ATTENDING another university, PLEASE let UNC know sooner rather than later AND WITHDRAW your waitlist spot so another student has a chance and the seat is not taken up…PLEASE!
Same goes for accepted students, if indeed your son/daughter has accepted/enrolled at their top choice school. It’s just not fair to the kids who have a chance between now and May 1 to go to UNC.
@Dadsmouse The chances of getting into UNC off the waitlist are extremely slim (I am not sure of exact percentages). Best for your child to choose another school and fully prepared and excited to attend. If he/she gets off the waitlist, it will then be a happy and unexpected surprise.
We are fully aware of that but hopefully parents and kids are aware to properly notify colleges once they formally accept at another university.
I was wondering if anyone had received news on the Excel Carolina acceptance for Pharmacy? My D1 was accepted for OOS but with no current major, she’s hoping to lock in for early assurance.
Has anyone else’s MyCarolina stopped working?
It is down for my D20 too.
Mine works !
Back here as well.
No Honors college notification for my son SAT 1560, in state ( Guilford Co). Lots of EC’s; All Conf and All State varsity athlete 4 years running; tons of community service, dual legacy (which does not impact admission) ; however he has EA admission to Notre Dame which takes UNC off the Radar. Congrats to all who have been admitted. Go Heels!
My D can’t login to her mycarolina portal. When we request a new password, it says that it doesn’t know my daughter’s email. This is strange because she just got her decision at the mycarolina portal. She was accepted btw. Is anyone else’s mycarolina portal not working?
I have the same problem with my portal! I think I’m going to call tomorrow morning
My D’s mycarolina portal is still not working. I just called and left a message for a call back from UNC admissions.
Did you check her Connet Carolina Portal? It might work better for whatever she needs.
@flowermoon I didn’t get a call back, but my D tried to login to mycarolina tonight and she can. So it’s fixed.
Anyone has unable to create an ONYEN? It says my PID isn’t approved… their email has been unbelievably unhelpful I don’t think they understand what the issue is.
I would call the help desk. They were very helpful to my D20 who had a different issue.
I’m a little late but thought people may find this helpful in the future

Essays: Honestly, UNC was the first application I did and my supplementals were definitely not the best I’ve written. However, the UNC app has a space where you can submit a resume or “anything outside what you’ve included in your application that you think will help you stand out” Or something along those lines. I made a documentary about the unc duke rivalry in English class during my junior year so I decided to write a little blurb about how I enjoyed completing a project outside of my comfort zone (I also attached the doc). I think that helped me stand out and would definitely suggest out of state students do something like that to give them an edge. Good luck everyone and go heels !!!
@jbrwkACK May I ask what your D status? My D applied OOS but got denied. We were very surprised.
SAT 1440

I thought maybe her SAT isn’t high enough. I think she’s going to in state school now. (SUNY New York State)
Thanks! Good luck with you all got accepted!
I was accepted into the Carolina Global Launch today for Scotland and was wondering if anyone else heard back? Go Tar Heels!
