It looks like WL is almost closed. Someone on reddit posted that their counselor received a response from UNC that it would not use WL until June 30th. Makes no sense to me.
Why not? Every top state school I have heard of is either overenrolled or about to close their waitlist without taking very many. UVA has announced there is little movement this year. Purdue has 1200 more students who accepted than last year. Georgia Tech says their class is almost complete. Virginia Tech closed their waitlist already. UGA has said their class is almost complete.
It stinks but it is happening everywhere.

May be true for NC State too. That forum has been silent on anyone hearing anything, yes or no.
Most forums are quite. It could be either late WL movies this year(as reported by WSJ in Feb) or most of them are fullā¦unless some domino effect happens. I am wondering why UNC is not going to release any decisions until June 30th. Are they going to decide after school transcripts are send?
NC State just sent a wave of denials from the wait list.
I know that is a bummer for the kids that received it, but I wish more schools would pare down their waitlist. My son is waitlisted at two schools with enormous waitlists who have stated they are not taking very many people. If he is not competitive to be admitted off the waitlist, I think he would prefer to know now versus June or July.
Same here. I am here because my daughter is kind of too anxious. I want this to be over soon and want to have peaceful summer with her. I wish UNC start sending rejection letters to those who have no chance. At least, they can start moving on and have some good time.

If you are on the wait listā¦ you have to move on. Itās disappointing but best for you and your child.
I got an email today thanking me for my LOCI and academic updates. I uploaded to my college contacts email at UNC be the portal. Did anyone else get feedback like this?

My response was similar . She thanked me for my sincere letter and thought some of my updates were nice .

Iām confused why so many of the state schools are not utilizing their waitlist this year (or almost not at all). I am of course worried that UNC wonāt use their waitlist either. Iām wondering if since apps were so ridiculously high this year that the big well-regarded state schools panicked and sort of over-accepted thinking their yield might be down. But then they had a very high yield on those acceptances (seems that students favored the big state schools this year) - and now they are overbooked like an airline. Therefore little movement on the waitlists.
