UNC or UC Berkeley

Between UC Berkeley and UNC, which is better for Asian studies and Economics?
I am hoping that my girlfriend can come over to UNC for her exchange programme.
Even if UNC ranks lower for these 2 majors, surely there are other factors which UNC are stronger in?

Both are great schools, I dont know much about the departments you’re asking about in particular, but I do know what sets UC apart is its engineering program which is flat out one of the best.

I’m no expert, but from what I know, UC Berkeley generally trumps UNC in most fields. Berkeley is good at pretty much everything from engineering to political science, so they’re bound to be great at Asian studies and Econ. My opinion, however, is based more on research and prestige than the actual academic quality. I hear that Berkeley is cutthroat (duh) and the administration and professors can be impersonal compared to UNC. Also, UNC has great weather. For sciences, UC is clearly better than UNC and for humanities, it’s a matter of preference.
