Im from socal and cant decide if i wanna stay close to home and by the beach at SB or try something different and go to UNC. Is UNC really that much better of a school and is it worth moving across the country?

UNC is a “better” school in regards to academics. It has prestige…ucsb, not so much. Certain fields may be superior to one another, so what is your intended major? Congrats though, it is tough getting in from out of state.
Depends what kind of lifestyle you enjoy and what you want in a school. Expand a bit to give us an idea of helping you break it down.

In my opinion, 18 is a great time to stretch yourself. Go to UNC.

At UNC you are OOS, at UCSB you are in state. Trans continental travel means you might be able to come say 2-3 times a year and can get quite costly.

That said, what subjects are you interested, what is your financial situation etc. Also, how come you are still making decisions on today? Given this is your first post, you need to provide more information else people will think you are a ■■■■■. Have you been admitted or thinking of applying?

I applied undecided and have no clue what I want to major in. The reason I’m just no asking is because I was waitlisted at both schools and just recently found out I was admitted. Money isn’t really an issue it’s just wether or not I would fit in there and enjoy that type of lifestyle as much as the one I live now

UCSB is the place to be if you really want to party. IV is a great place to live. If you like soccer, SB praises it like an SEC school takes pride in their football team. Lots of great looking girls.
UNC on the other hand is something to experience imo. I would love to be at a Duke rivalry game. It is a prestigious school with lots of connections. Does not have the So Cal weather and beach society. So you will have to throw it out of your mind. Also, most kids are from NC so you might have to adjust to the culture as one would if they are coming to UCSB.

Visit each school, ASAP.
