Those are just my thoughts, but I could be wrong,
I’m in the same boat of being a junior by the time fall hits. I’ll have 54 credits by the end of this spring semester and then finishing the last few classes during summer. After emailing a bunch of universities over this predicament, one of them told me that my transcripts will have all the classes I currently am enrolled in. It doesn’t hurt to contact admissions over this since some of them let me send in my spring/summer schedule.
So UNC allowed you to waive sending in SAT scores based upon your pending hours in the summer? My community college does not have registration until later this month.
Yeah that would suck for me because I already sent mine in but I plan on taking enough credits over the summer to cross the 60 credit threshold. Oh well
I assume that’s why I was waived for SAT/ACT scores. Again, there is no confirmation other than an inkling. I highly advise contacting undergraduate admissions for any sort of confirmation. I’m in the honors college for my community college, so I did registration for summer classes incredibly early. I hope you can figure it all out though!
While you guys got waivers for SAT/ACT score, I got asked to submit those instead today ?
I applied as junior because by the end of the semester at my university, I will have 73 credit hours. However, I knew for sure, that a lot of credits won’t transfer, but I was hoping that those will be enough to qualify me as a junior applicant. And I guess, I was wrong ? It definitely decreases my chances significantly. I cannot wait until they post decisions, because I just need to know that I didn’t get accepted ?
Also, I think that we need to calm down about the decisions. Because the admission office updated many of us today about some materials, I think we will need to wait one more week. The admission office will need time to review all new documents
They never asked for my ACT/SAT scores but they did ask for my high school transcript in the beginning. I applied as a junior because after this semester I’ll be earning my associates degree. Should I be worried they didn’t ask for my ACT?
@cfisher19 I wouldn’t be worried. It seems like only the people who are on the line were asked for scores. I applied as a junior and I was never asked for them either.
Yes - if you are enrolling with 60 hours completed then you don’t have to submit standardized test scores.

I understand that you need sat scores if less than 60 hours. I am trying to figure out if they use pending summer hours to go towards that 60 hours. I cannot register until April 22 for summer courses. I know that this is a question for admissions, but I am trying to figure out if I should mention taking summer courses or not. Would they waitlist me or delay my decision to see those classes as registered? Very few people get in off the waitlist. Or should I just send in SAT scores and be looked at as a sophomore with 57 hours. Sorry for so many questions.
This is how it worked last year (and there is no guarantee that it’s the same this year but it’d be odd for them to change the requirement):
Students applying as junior applicants (regardless of credits earned, in progress or registered) were expected to have earned 60 credits or more and did not have to send SAT/ACT scores. However, you are judged less so on the class status you’re applying for and more so the grades you earned in the classes you have taken.
Let’s say you apply as a junior and you have 35 credit hours at time of application. While you’re barely a sophomore by UNC standards at time of application, you very well may earn 60 credits before fall at UNC and UNC still shouldn’t need your SAT. And if you don’t earn that 60? You won’t really have a much lower chance, you will just be regarded as a sophomore until you earn over 60 but that should be after your accepted, if you are.
I know some transfers now who did not have 60 until summer and they applied as a junior transfer. They were all accepted as sophomore applicants (each had roughly 50 or so credits before summer). They didn’t have to submit their scores nor a copy of their summer schedule to prove they would indeed be earning 60 hours before fall. Once they submitted their final transcripts from their former colleges, their class status was bumped up to junior as they earned 60+ hours.
Thanks for the information. I just checked “my Carolina” and the sat score request has now been removed from my checklist. I have not contacted them. So I guess I do not need to send them in.

I have seen your name on this forum frequently and you have provided me with a ton of info! So thank you for that. Good to know that about recommendations as well!
Happy to be of service. Hopefully, it’ll all pay off in 4-11 days.
@Mcunn226 Did you say that you go to Coastal Carolina Community College? CCCC?
Central Carolina Community College, the other white meat.
Ah. Haha
All those C’s. These schools are so creative. ?
