OOS. Accepted!! Son is very excited!! Hoping for Honors college as well. Congrats to all and good luck to everyone finding their space…
OOS daughter was accepted!! She’s beyond happy! UNCW has been her first choice for the past 2.5 years
D24, OOS also got accepted today. Nice to get good news on a Friday! She’s still unsure and has gotten accepted to more than she expected so some decisions to make coming up but a good deal regardless. Good luck to everyone.
In-state S24 admitted today as well! This is good option for him to have. Now just waiting on NC State before making some decisions.
Congrats to everyone accepted! My in-state S24 was waitlisted. 3.6 W GPA and 27 ACT. No surprise in the decision and to be honest he has SMU, Baylor and LSU (w/ significant scholarship) in hand so UNCW was really one of mommy’s hopes to keep him closer versus farther!
OOS straight up rejected! Kind of surprised - it is my first rejection. Accepted to Purdue today (also OOS) which softened the blow.
He has some really good options in the mix – congrats on those!
Congrats for Purdue!
Very happy my kid got accepted because it was a slight reach for her, although we’re in state. I think I would prefer UNCA, where she got a nice merit scholarship, but she’s not crazy about the mountains. She is Asian with left-of-center politics and I am worried about the fit at UNCW—should I? Anyway, happy for her to have some choices.
Those are some good options to choose from. We are in NC and looking closely at LSU as well. Waiting to hear what the scholarship will be. We think LSU is a strong option and maybe overlooked compared to the other southern state flagship schools.
Welcome @Molcc! We have several friends at UNC-W – all happy and politically diverse.
OOS 3.95 and 4.28
1270 SAT
With strong ECs, Leadership and Volunteer
Did anyone OOS get merit? Or does anyone know if they give merit and if so when?
Also accepted Clemson, Tennessee, College of Charleston, Bama, Ole Miss. deferred UGA, Auburn and Tulane
The better UNC schools offer little to no merit and if given, it will come later. I think $6k is the max I’ve heard for UNCW. I know mine got the max at UNCA and it was $5k per year.
In-State- Accepted. We still are waiting to hear from UNC-CH and 2 private schools (one a reach). Daughter has some great academic options but affordability will be key for us. I really liked the campus when we visited last spring. Congratulations everyone!
In state and accepted!
My daughter is Asian as well and admitted yesterday. A little concerned about the lack of diversity but we signed up for a tour in March to check it out!
My daughter was accepted on Friday, in state. She was offered the Excellence Scholarship at ASU also last week, wondering if UNCW has anything comparable?
Same for us. D24 first choice is NC State. She has been accepted UNCW, App, UNCC and UNCG. We are very nervous about NC State but Reilly glad she has such good options.
I think ASU’s Excellence Scholarship is a scholarship that is awarded to first years using the Common App application as the determiner. The closest thing I can find on the UNC-W site is this:
UNCW’s Office of Admissions offers a limited number of merit-based scholarships to entering freshmen, independent of the scholarship application. These decisions are made using the content of the application for admission. Outcomes will typically be communicated to recipients by January.
UNC-W opens up their scholarship portal application to first years who are admitted. So they have a mix – some merit awarded without an additional application and others are awarded through their portal application.
I think the max UNCW scholarship (except for perhaps 1-2 full scholarships) is $6k. There is information about how to apply for their scholarships on the portal. That said, mine can’t set up her account with the email they sent, so there is that…
