Uncomfortable Roommate Situation

I’ve been living with my roommates for a year and a half now but recently we’ve gotten more distant and it’s been kind of awkward because we don’t really hang out together anymore or even talk much because our interests are very different. Are there any tips for dealing with uncomfortable roommate situations?

If you have someone in another dorm who’s also your friend and wants to move out and room with you, then move in with him next term. No need to stay in that situation.

Why let the situation be uncomfortable?

As long as there’s mutual respect and both sides are living up to their agreements (i.e. chores, rent, common decency), what’s the problem?

It’s perfectly fine to not mesh with another person because of different interests. Those are what friends are for. A roommate might also be a friend, but doesn’t have to be.

Personally, when I had roommates, I preferred to just coexist peacefully in order to avoid drama.
