<p>Chicago is far and away my first choice, but I realize that I do have to apply to other places. I’m thinking of sending a supplemental piece of writing with those applications and I really, really like my Uncommon Essay; I think it’s one of the best nonfiction pieces I’ve written. But if I send a nonfiction narrative with a table as its center motif, do you think the other schools will notice and know where it’s from?</p>
<p>I think they might notice. Whether or not it matters is anybody’s guess - and it might as easily work to your benefit. If you do send your essay as a supplement, make sure that you write a very strong ‘why college x’ essay that makes a good case for your attending there.</p>
