<p>Is anyone familiar with the University of North Carolina’s School of the Art’s high school summer program, specifically the filmmaking intensive?</p>

<p>As a current HS junior who wants to major in film production at either NYU, USC, Emerson, UNSCA, etc., would this be a worthwhile thing to do this summer? I’ve never been to a filmmaking camp, and I think it would be beneficial to my college application – would it actually be?</p>

<p>I’ve filmed some short films before on my own, and I have several scripts unfilmed or that I’m currently writing. I don’t want to go if the program is just basic camera tutorials, etc. </p>

<p>So, has anyone been/know anyone that’s been? Thoughts? Opinions on going? Please and thanks!</p>

<p>My son has been a resident student at UNCSA for the past two years in their ballet program. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar with the film school, but I’ve heard good things. UNCSA itself is a well known arts school.</p>

<p>The summer intensives are well regarded in the dance community, but not the same level of concentration that the winter programs are. My guess is that the film school would likely be as good.</p>

<p>I can’t speak for colleges, but I believe that summer programs are always a positive if you can afford it. You’re exposed to new ideas and techniques and at the very elast, you communicate to your college the level of dedication you have to your craft.</p>
