UNCW Portal says decisioned

We received email today too.

same here. deferred

DS20 portal changed to Decisioned on 12/10 and letter was on portal 12/11, nothing in mail yet

Accepted/psychology
In state
ACT 31
WGPA 4.33
UWGPA 3.88

true but very odd. Seems like a lot of deferrals for a relatively small sample on here. I wonder if the admissions dept changed their approach this year resulting in more deferrals.

My daughter was accepted…not sure of date, but portal showed acceptance the day after it changed to “decisioned”. In state, undeclared major.
GPA 4.33/3.88
ACT 21 (not a great test taker)
EC - two sports, limited community service, employed 10th-12th

Seems strange that we never got an email or letter in the mail about decision. Daughter was denied (found on portal) but poor communication from UNCW compared to all the other schools I have dealt with.

He did finally get an email on Monday saying a decision had been made so that was 4 days after he saw it on the portal. Not great communication

Same, but it was a cute mailing. And they sent a sticker…

My son never got an email saying his application was received…LOL We are OOS so I doubt he will get in…He did send the admission dept an email and they sent him his portal info today…They told him he would get an email regarding a decision…

Same with my son, deferred on Dec. 13th. I thought he was in line with stats, 3.8gpa, 28ACT and 1270 SAT and lots of APs. But he’s not too upset since he’s been accepted to UNCC, Alabama, LSU and ECU. Waiting to hear from State and Carolina…the reach schools.

There were a lot of deferrals from UNCW this year, not sure what that means. At DS’s HS UNCW is backup for those trying to go to NCSU, not sure what that means about NSCU chances this year.

But I bet that many of the deferrals will get offers when the other big schools admit in late January.

I got that sense about a lot of deferrals at UNCW. My D while not in the stratosphere, fits their admissions profile. UNCW is a middle to safety compared to the 4 other schools where she has been accepted so far.

Has anyone’s child decided to commit to UNCW? My daughter was intially deferred and has now been accepted. I thought we were ready to commit to ECU until she received the acceptance from UNCW.

Our D was accepted yesterday and like you and your child we are rethinking the college search. We told her to think about it and we will discuss in April after some visits. Choosing from among 6 schools.

@fsudad2022 wow 6 schools. I would be in a crazed panic. My daughter was deciding on ECU and App. Now with this decision she has dropped App and is between UNCW and ECU. She wants to apply to nursing school so trying to weigh the pro’s and cons between the now two schools. Wishing you luck with your daughter.

My son recently gave up his spot from UNCW. I am glad they are doing more notifications.

@ljasnau they have a nice nursing program in Wilmington.

Thank you. What’s tough is that we don’t really know much about uncw. My wife spent part of a day there with our older D and she said it looked fine and the admissions people were friendly but she want sure if there was a campus life there or if there were a lot of commuters. It was an empty Camus when they visited.

@fsudad2022 it was an empty campus when we visited as well. We went Memorial Day weekend last year. I have signed her up for admitted students day the end of this month, so we will spend next weekend in Greenville and the following weekend in Wilmington.

@ITBgirl I have heard they have a nice nursing program. I am leaning more towards UNCW now. I’ve told her that it’s totally her decision, she can’t go wrong either place.

Some people say UNCW is a suitcase University and its hard to say. Most kids I know that go there are from Raleigh, so many do come back home for weekends, but Raleigh has a lot to offer. But Wilmington does have the beach!

@ljasnau she really can’t go wrong. I think your upcoming visits will help. My son did not like Wilmington, I loved it. The lack of football isn’t an issue for some kids, although compared to the team spirit at ECU, they are worlds apart.

We dislike Raleigh. Lol. Live in Chapel Hill. Grandparents are in Southport. We like uncw’s location but again the campus vibe and culture is a question for our D. She thought it was a feeder school to UNC or NC State initially. We will do our due diligence and she can decide.
