Undeclared Major Change

Hello all,
I recently was accepted into Thurgood Marshall college at UCSD for an undeclared major. Upon further reading and research, I decided nanoengineering would be a major I am highly interested in transfering into. As far I as I understand, nanoengineering is not impacted so would it be possible to easily change into, even if I am undeclared?
Also, when is the earliest you can declare a major? Can you declare a major before you begin your first day?
Thanks in advance…

Yes, NanoE is not impacted so you can just go on tritonlink and change your major from there.

Not sure if you can declare your major at the moment, but you can always just go and try for yourself. I highly doubt it’ll be impacted in the near future so don’t stress too much.

You can probably switch your major before the first day if not on the first day. It won’t affect which classes you can sign up for anyway, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Ok great thank you for your replies.

Secondly, be honest… Would nanoengineering be a suitable major for pre-med? I understand any major can be pre-med with the required classes, but basically would I be able to take these classes and still have time for you know, a life?

You’re better off taking non-engineering classes and pulling out a good GPA. The Nano-E requirements are also pretty tough too. Many engineers don’t graduate in 4 years and if they do, they usually don’t have time for a bunch of other classes. (Unless the pre-med reqs can be met with GE’s)
