Underage drinking- valid license

I am sure that is a comfort to their parents’-
Forgive me for the snark.

But why is it- when an underage driver- is arrested for DUI, and jailed- their license is not pulled for TWO MONTHS afterwards?

How hard is it to shut them down immediately?

If someone was firing a weapon- injuring people but not killing them- wouldn’t we take their weapon away?

How is this different?

At least they removed the picture of the car wrapped around the Taco Time pole.

Wow.

Though I think pulling his license immediately would not have helped.

Someone who would break the law like this with drinking and driving (probably far more than these two times!), would hardly worry about breaking the law by driving without a license.

Something more serious and impactful would have had to happened after accident one to have prevented this tragedy.

Sad to say, but the parents were fools to not pull the kids license or take away the keys themselves.

I agree that I am wanting to know just what his parents tried to keep him off the road and I also agree that some people are going to drink anyway.

That is the logic some parents use when allowing their teens to drink or to host drinking parties , that they were going to drink anyway.

But I feel there is substantive difference between the liklihood of the behavior continuing and aiding and abetting it. For the city ( since the parents had not been able to control him- although it doesn’t say if he was still living at home, I , myself moved out when I was 17), to release him in the morning after causing that sort of damage & to not take his license away for TWO months, indicates that it wasn’t a priority.

What kind of message was that sending someone, whose frontal cortex was apparently not in working order?
