Undergrad business applications- do I have a good mix?

Current senior applying as a HR management or management major. I have been accepted so far to UDelaware and Michigan State. Waiting to hear from UMass-Amherst, UW-Madison, UNH, Bentley, Bryant, Virginia tech, and quinnipiac.

Wondering if I should add any more reaches Schools or if this list looks good.

Some stats- 4.2 W, test optional, 4 AP’s (passed all exams), 1 dual enrollment course, 550 hours comm service, state officer for CTSO organization, DECA competitor, club officer all years of high school(VP and president titles). Sport all 4 years high school and club.

Looking to see if I should add any last minute reaches as most RD deadlines close Jan 1st. Thanks.

What’s your unweighted GPA and budget? Home state?

No idea unweighted school only provides weighted and no info on how to recalculate. Definitely will need financial/merit/need based aid, paying for it through loans and scholarship no college savings. Home state is massachusetts

Calculating a basic unweighted GPA should be a simple math problem.

For each semester grade in an academic course (English, math, history / social studies, foreign language, science, visual or performing art) add A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0. Divide the total by the number of grades.

Have you run the net price calculator on each college’s web site? (Or gotten actual financial aid offers from schools that have admitted you?)

Remember that you can only take $5.5k loans first year without a cosigner. A realistic expectation for savings from work earnings during the school year (part time) and summer is about $3k to $5k.

What’s your net cost at Michigan State and UDel?

What’s your EFC?
What can your parents carve out of their current income and dedicate to your college costs?
Do you have a job?
Personal savings (from gifts, bar mitzah/confirmation, birthday, summer job?)

Run the NPC (net price calculator) on WPI, Dickinson, Marist. Is any affordable? What about the other universities on your list, especially UMass Amherst, Bentley?

You can “only” take a 5.5K loan for your freshman year.

Apply to UMass Lowell ASAP in order to have a financial safety. EA II deadline is Jan 5. Hopefully you’ll be invited to the Honors College (if invited, you have to fill out a form of interest), and this comes with special privileges and scholarships. At worst, you wont need to use that acceptance but if push comes to shove and no college is within budget you’ve got a solid safety that’s better than CC.

You should (based on my kids) get $15,000 - $17,000 from UD, $18,000 from UMASS, and enough from Quinnipiac to bring it around $30,000 (if these are OOS schools for you). My oldest went to Rutgers business school in New Brunswick and had a job offer spring of junior year (at the accounting firm where she interned), my son graduated from TCNJ in the spring and continued on at the firm he interned with senior year (finance).

Thank you, my unweighted is about 3.7.

I’ve run net price on some schools it’s ranged from 20k-45k

Thank you for this! I haven’t really received a ton of help with the financial side but just trying to do my best. I’ll apply to Umass Lowell ASAP. My EFC is about 7,500, however my parents won’t actually be paying that. I will Financially Independent for college in terms of the cost of attendance for the school, however my aunt will be willing to co-sign.

Michigan State so far is 35k, without financial aid and without business scholarships from school.
UDelaware still waiting.

Thank you do you recommend Rutgers for Business? I looked into it previously but I may have missed the deadline.

I definitely would. My husband also attended Rutgers and was thrilled when our oldest daughter decided to attend (my daughter was accepted and her brother is still waiting to hear, he applied later). My daughter was also accepted into the honors program at Temple with good merit, and just found our she was accepted into the Fox school of business honors program there.
