Undergrad ceramics programs combined with liberal arts?

My daughter is putting together her list of schools to visit and I would love to hear from any ceramics majors about their school’s programs. She has been working on the wheel since age 10 and I feel she has a strong portfolio. She is an A–B student academically and prefers a more laid back vibe but she is a hard worker. She wants to major in ceramics and take liberal arts classes as well as other studio arts (photography and creative writing are also interests and possibly museum studies?) Location wise she is leaning towards a large town/small city. She was at NYU last summer and loved the ceramics studio but she is hoping to find a school with more of a centralized campus. There aren’t a ton of strong ceramics programs so we are open to suggestions that don’t fit everything on this wish list too. Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.

If you’re a NYer & therefore would save a lot at a SUNY, there’s NYS College of Ceramics at Alfred University. Centralized campus but VERY rural location.

I was going to suggest Alfred but @ArtAngst beat me to it.

Alfred is considered the strongest program overall, I’m pretty sure.

Have you considered Clemson? – http://www.clemson.edu/caah/departments/art/studio/Ceramics.html

She may want to consider the Five Colleges area – UMass Amherst seems to have ceramics and then she could take classes at any of the Five Colleges – https://www.fivecolleges.edu/academics/courses

The Quaker Consortium (Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore) share classes and classroom space. Swarthmore seems to have ceramics. Haverford also has an art studio. Bryn Mawr students who are interested in Fine Arts go to Haverford (generally) for their classes and they have a studio on campus to create work. Excellent liberal arts training.

I googled and USNWR provided a list – FWIW.

In addition I remember long ago discovering that Baylor had ceramics – https://www.baylor.edu/art/index.php?id=928352

Eckerd College opened their new visual arts building this past February. The professor/mentor program is a strong program at Eckerd. She would have great flexibility. It is a small liberal arts college with many opportunities to study abroad. The city of St. Petersburg has wonderful museums, galleries, and studios.
