Undergrad GPA

This fall, I’ll be starting college at UVA. What should be my goal GPA if I want to go to a top MBA school later? My favorite MBA schools are UPenn, Stern, Columbia, and Sloan. Please do not say 4.0 -that’s a pretty obvious answer.

this thread is pretty obvious…anything above a 3.6, 3.7 is going to favorable. More importantly, job experience and GMAT scores will determine if you get in to your “favorite” MBA schools.

Figure out what latin honors cutoffs are. Should for either magna or summa.

Is regular ol ‘cum laude’ not good anymore?

Whatever will be good enough to get into Phi Beta Kappa(if you are a liberal arts major) or Phi Kappa Phi(if you aren’t, though PKP is not as big of a deal as PBK).

You can take the GMAT early if you plan to go to grad school directly after college. Many schools require your GMAT scores be 5 years old or less so if you are thinking of working in between you might want to hold off. If you know your GMAT it’ll give you an idea of whether you need to be absolutely stellar in terms of GPA, whether you can relax, and maybe whether you should forget about a great MBA school altogether.
