Undergrad Pre-med vs post back

I wonder if going through an ivy league school getting mostly B’s but a C in chem… so far… A’s in lots of other classes will be good enough to get into a med school, or should I switch to a major that would be easier for me to guarantee a higher GPA undergrad and do a post back year and do all of my remaining chem/org chem. My GPA will be higher for applications. Any thoughts

I would say getting mostly B’s in all science classes from any school including an ivy will likely not be good enough. But if you have a half of the BCPM classes in A’s, and the other half in B’s. (i.e., the science GPA is around 3.5.) it will likely be OK, as long as the overall GPA is 3.6+. I heard it is often the case that an applicant’s science GPA is 0.1 lower than her overall GPA.

Are you from CA? If yes, it is tough there and be prepared that you may need to go OOS and pay big bucks. I know one 3.65/37 kid from CA who still needs to go to an OOS medical school in the end.
