Undergrad prof wants me to stay. Effect on LOR?

<p>The prof that I’m doin research with wants me to stay in his lab for my grad degree. I’ve made plans to go to other places for grad school.</p>

<p>Do you guys think profs might write you a bad LOR just so the student gets declined to other places and has to stay in their current lab?</p>

<p>I can’t imagine this happening often, but I do see this happening at times, especially with the really selfish profs. I’m scared that this might happen to me.</p>

<p>No. That is unethical, and professors usually want to see their students succeed even if it is not with them.</p>
