Undergrad School Reputation

I’m in the midst of applying to Ph.D. programs for English. I’m fairly confident that my application packets are solid; I scored in the 99th percentile on the verbal portion of the GRE and have a 4.0/4.0 in my major classes.

My concern is that I’m getting my B.A. at a very small, obscure state university. Will that be a concern for admissions boards? I’m applying to some pretty good schools: Brown, Vanderbilt, etc.

Waiting for the next 2-3 months just might kill me. :/

In a word, no.

Your application will be judged on its merits, and if you have those kind of numbers, a great writing sample and stellar recommendations, you should be as competitive a candidate as anyone.
