What’s a good GPA to graduate UPenn with? I’m in the College and I’m majoring in Psychology. I’m aiming for Columbia or Dartmouth for grad school.

Anything above 3.5 is considered strong, especially if you’re going to upenn. However, make sure to ace your GREs.

Okay, thank you!

Also, get to know your profs so you get strong letters of recommendation from well-known and well-respected profs (since the UPenn psych department is very highly ranked). Are you interested in clinical or research? This will determine whether you should also focus your time on internships or research experience, which will also help you gain strong recommendations.

I’m actually probably going to change my major for graduate school, but I will definitely try to get to know my professors better.

What are you planning to pursue in graduate school?

Reason I ask: not every undergraduate major is considered adequate preparation for every graduate program.

If you don’t know what you want to go to graduate school for, you should not already know what grad school you want to go to. Graduate school is not like undergrad - you have to look at which advisors are doing work that highly interests you, and they might not be at Columbia or Dartmouth. Prestige does not mean much at the graduate level because some of the top undergraduate schools are not the best at the graduate level for many fields.

Criminology, probably. Do you have any suggestions as to which grad schools I should be looking into?
