Undergraduate research?

Hello!

A professor I know asked me to do research for him as an undergraduate during the school year. Is it common for researchers to get paid at all?

Thank you!

I’m only one data point, but I was paid $15/hr to do political science research as an undergraduate in 2010-2011. Many of my classmates also did research as undergraduates, but I have no idea how much they got paid, if anything.

It will depend upon if the research grant money is sufficient for you to be paid. My son has done unpaid and paid research so it will depend upon the funds available. He was paid minimum wage, but any experience regardless is worth your time to pursue.

If you aren’t getting paid you should be getting credit hours- but most of the ones that I know get paid something.

Just to clarify, the internships the were unpaid for my son were for credit hours.
