<p>I am an international student planning to double major in university in finance and accounting in the US. I need to make a list of about 10 schools that I am interested in to show my high school counselor. Since a lot of the university’s have either strong accounting programs only or strong finance programs only, would it be more important for me to pick a university with a prestigious name? I’ve been considering to apply to wharton, stern, mcdonough, UIUC, U. of Michigan, U. of Virginia and U. wisconsin-madison. Which universities would you advice me to take of the list? or add onto the list? and which university out of the list would you advice me to apply for early?

<p>If you can’t pay full freight then take UIUC, Stern, UMich, UVa, UWisc off your list. If you can pay full freight then keep them on…and maybe add Berkeley</p>
<p>Don’t forget MIT Sloan, Cornell and Indiana-Kelley.</p>

<p>Thank you for the replies. Money isn’t that big of a deal for me. I’ve been researching the schools you’ve advised. On some websites it said that UT-Austin isn’t a very diverse school and the students there not very open to international students, is that true? Also, isn’t MIT’s Sloan basically impossible to get into? How difficult is it to get into Sloan as compared to Wharton?</p>
<p>Sloan and Wharton are roughly equally as difficult to get into. The main difference is that Sloan has the same requirements as the rest of MIT, which includes SAT subect tests in Mathematics II and one of the three sciences (Bio, Chem or Phy) while Wharton will accept any two subject tests, although they too will probably expect Mathematics II as one of the two.</p>
