<p>Please respond if you were able to do science research as a freshman or sophomore. Did you go to a big/small school, and was it public or private? I’m trying to see what types of schools have the best research opportunities for undergraduates. </p>

<p>Roughly 50 students per class at Smith receive paid research assistantships in their first and second years. They are called STRIDE scholarships.</p>
