Why not wear a non-wire bra for the trip but pack the usual gear in your suitcase?

If you go through DFW, you can opt for a full body scan instead of a pat down.

The bra won’t be a problem - mine never set anything off, and neither did my pins in my jaw.

If you are considering underwire bra, you are probably one of many women endowed with large breasts, who has had to wear two bras before for the “support” during exercise. And they probably did not help very much except to have flabs showing through sports tops…Well, you get the point.
As far as I know, for the given price, underwire bra is the best available bra out there for large breasted women (I am myself somewhere in the 34DDD range). I have two of these in 34DD, going to order my third one, and never had to find another type of bra. I have run 10-Ks and a half-marathon in these, and done various step and aerobic classes. The wide straps and the back support are super.

Not sure how much longer the full body scan option at DFW will be available

Seriously: who searches for an 5 year old thread to discuss this?

Looks like an ad of some sort

…or her post should be moved to the bragging thread.

^^^ ha ha ha! Thanks for the chuckle.

Thanks for that audiophile :)

First post for cathyanderson.

I guess someone googled underwire bras and came up with CC??

on the other hand, bringing up the thread is a chance to post a song with a great throwback Eighties sound (specifically Talking Headsesque), which has lyrics that reference a Steinbeck novel, waitresses on rollerskates, and, yes, “the way your underwire bra always sets off that X’ray machine.”

One suggestion is to use a sports bra that doesn’t have any underwires for going through security. I always wear a bra without underwires, even though I also always opt out of going through the 3-D imaging (don’t need any additional radiation). I have not had problems with the pat down and it’s not as awful as publicized. (I have told my kids I don’t want them going through 3-D imaging but have no way of ensuring that they listen and have the pat down instead.)

Because H has thyroid issues, we are going to have him have patdowns instead of the imaging as well. In the past, he was fine with the 3-D imaging.

My underwire bra from Wacoal sets off the alarms. I just take it off in the bathroom before security and put it back on when I get through. I almost prefer the body scanners now. It’s giving some bored tsa agent a thrill to see all the old, overweight naked people. Probably gouges their eyes out after work. You just can’t unsee some things.

I guess many of us picture male TSa agents, watching 3-d of Scarlett Johanssen.
I guess that isn’t always true.

Just do not wear any if you are so concerned and cannot buy the cheap one from any place. Who cares? You think that anybody would be looking at you while anxious to get thru security? Then you stop at the batroom after and put it on.
Frankly, they make a picture of our nude bodies, so who cares about pat down any more? They do whatever they wish instead of implementing the only procedure that has proven to be working over many years in area of the most concentration of terrorists - profiling.

sort of like expectations before going to a nude beach … and then realizing there is a reason cloths were invented.

All of it is just a personal perceptions. If you want to judge yourself, do it, do not think though that everybody is up to it. Most people just do not care, there is a very small age range / gender of those who do, Primarily, 12-15 y o girls, most others have more important things on their mind while traveling.

Just went through the security checkpoint at Seatac - my underwire bra did not set off any alarms. The X-ray machines are GONE! Saw a bunch of TSA agents being trained to use the alternative machine; they had a ton of fun microwaving each other. :)

Wonder how SAFE the alternative machine is for passengers and operators. We never get any information about that so people can make informed choices about the risks so we can know when we should (or don’t need to bother) opt out. Since H & I both have some health issues, as do our kids, will likely continue opting out and getting the patdown instead.
