Subject has probably been covered before, but what should an income estimate be for someone who has been unemployed for over 10 months? How can you estimate income for the remaining 9 or 10 months of this year if there is no definite prospect of a job in sight?

are you talking about estimating for the profile for 2008? or estimating for 2007?

If estimating for 2008, put down what the income would be if you are not employed (unless you know of a job that you have a good shot at). Don’t forget to include unemployment income, spousal income, etc.

For 2007, you should have a pretty good idea of what your income was – look at your last paycheck stub for 2007, add in unemployment income and any other income.

Right, 2007 income is known (including unemployment payments). 2008 is looking like zero at this point. It is completely unknown.

we had a similiar situation – we were told to estimate $0 for earned income for the unemployed individual, but if that person was going to be working part-time, etc to estimate that. Also – remember to put in any unemployment compensation that you might get (it is limited, so you have to figure out if you will get anymore).
