My mother was trying to enter into a for profit Christian education school. The school enrolled her in a course before her financial aid was finalized, even though she repeatedly told them she could not pay for the course without the financial aid. It did not go through and now the school is demanding the $1,800 for the course they assured she would not have to pay for. On top of that the new school she wanted to enroll in, now that her financial aid status has been fixed will not accept her without a transcript from the first school, even though the credits or that one class will not transfer. What can she do now? She wants to continue her education, but she is a senior on a fixed income.
When did the mystery school enroll her? In the past? Just now?
What kind of paper trail does she have for the communications she had with that institution?
She may have to go up the food chain at that institution to get things resolved. If the billing office is incompetent, then the office of the president may be able to sort it out for her.
This is my issue with for profit schools. Seems like there’s a terrible story like this all the time. Anyway, I’m very sorry to hear about this happening. I agree with happymomof1, your mother should try and go up the food chain to see what they can do. Although I would always remain dubious about what the for profit says.
