(Disclaimer: Don’t talk about test questions, I don’t want this thread getting locked.)

I took AP Biology this year, and I could do A LOT of the science test without even reading the passages. AP Biology literally taught you exactly how to do some of the passages. I, and my friends who also took AP Biology had an incredible advantage over test-takers who hadn’t. I literally finished science 5-10 minutes early which is a HUGE anomaly; I’ve taken almost 4 practice tests and it has never happened before.

Does anyone else agree that this science section was too hard/ free 36 to people in AP Bio?

that’s not an unfair advantage.
school is supposed to help prep you for these standardized tests. if you worked hard in school, it’s natural that your ACT scores will be higher

I didn’t take the test but that should be considered an unfair advantage. I just finished my junior year and haven’t taken AP bio and am taking it next year. So by the time I’m done with AP bio, ill already know what college im going to and it will be too late to use that knowledge

that’s simply bad luck, but it’s not an unfair advantage. the more knowledgeable you are, the better you’ll do on the test.
that’s like saying a senior taking the test has an unfair advantage over a sophomore, because they got the opportunity to learn more

I was also in AP Bio this year. As such, the Viewpoints passage about the neurotransmitters, and the Hardy-Weinberg passage, and one other were very easy. While I only had about 2 minutes left, I did feel that the Bio came easily to me, which made the test as a whole easy. One or two of the passages took more time, but nothing was that hard. I don’t think I got a 36, but still somewhere is the 30’s (depending on the curve).

Edit: You said not to talk specifically about the questions, so I was only general about the passages. Anyway, the moderators and such don’t care if we do discuss.

lol I love when I get science passages on Chemistry. Saves a lot of time since you don’t even have to look at the passage unless there’s a chart or something.

Lmao I wish I had an advantage on that science section. I struggled.

My public school doesn’t even offer AP bio courses. It offers AP art and language, honestly why we anyone need these?especially art. Only losers and dropouts with nowhere to go in life choose art school. Unless you are very talented in art then yes thats good but talent is nowhere present in this town of mine. (well besides me)

Edit: Now i sound pretty egotistical but oh well it really is the truth my town is overrun with pillheads, drug addicts and heroin is on the rise here.

The March ACT has some chemistry in it that some students complained too. Anyway, the science section requires very little scientific knowledge but skills to interpret data. Having the subject background may help a little bit in reading through the paragraph faster. Nevertheless, one of the suggestion for the science section is not to read the paragraph first anyway.

that’s not an unfair advantage at all. if you just prep for the science section and do a lot of practice questions you should do well no matter what. Got a 29 on science first time I took it, then studied really hard, and got a 36 the second time. Taking AP bio next year.

It’s not an unfair advantage to learn.

Never taken AP bio or chem still manged to finish with 10 mins remaining. Why? Cuz science is a huge joke that requires no knowledge

Science was easy to start off with, but Junes was pretty close. I finished around 10 seconds from time :D

I wouldn’t consider it an unfair advantage. When I first took the exam there were some material that I didn’t understand because I hadn’t been taught yet. After the first exam I prepped up for those types of questions in case they popped up again.
