Unfamiliar with ACT scoring

<p>I’m really not familiar with the ACT scoring system. could someone explain it to me?</p>

<p>I understand that scores range from 1-36. But what are the sub scores (like math, reading, science etc) ? how does one get a score of say, 33? What is the average score for the ACT? what is something to shoot for?</p>
