Uni experience

I’m an international student currently studying at university of technology Sydney, did my first semester planned on transfering univeristy of sydney from 2nd sem.

I always wanted to study in america but due to visa dates issue i ended up with gap year and i had to start somewhere. My first sem here at asutralia was really awful, i never expected this place to be so work driven rather than learning and innovation and making memories. I changed my faculty from science to finance for college and expected it to be taught from basics at least but here they are doing it in a speed run with just handful of lectures done online. They be charging money and each and everything even though tuition already are reaching sky heights. from few consolation with students and people here, they’ve told me wherever u go for uni in australia its the same.

I dont want to have my college experience just filled with lonliness and struggling with classes, I have always been the kid that organises and participates events and stuff but i barely can make myself to attend any here cuz all of them are dull and suffocating. Always wanted that college experience like in movies and have always seen people mentioning american universities do it right on social part.

I would like suggestions on if i trasnfer to american university or not.
if so how do i do it, whom should i consult and is it true i can transfer only after a year ?

Just to clarify your request, you are interested in attending a US college or university with an active social scene. You are not asking specifically about American University, which is a private research university in Washington DC.

If that is correct, I’ll remove the tag for American Univ so posters don’t get confused.

In order for people to help you, please add additional information.
What major?
What is your current GPA?
Any location preference?
Most importantly, what is your budget? At many schools financial aid is limited for international students and transfers so that will drive your list.

US schools are very expensive. I suggest you search the cost of attendance at a couple schools of interest. Also research if they meet need for internationals and transfers. This is school dependent so requires a bit of legwork on your part.

As an international transfer student, you will generally not receive financial aid so the 1st limiting factor will be budget.
Some business schools may still be taking applications for September if you’re willing to be full pay. I know there are still places available at Penn State Abington and PSU Altoona if you apply DUS or pre business - ie.,Undecided major, you decide what pre-reqs to take with an adviser when you get there but enquire about availability of on campus housing; Susquehanna Business school also has openings; Cal poly Humboldt, Drexel, Duquesne, Hamline, Hobart&WilliamSmith, Ithaca… are still taking apps. So if your Australian GPA is decent and you can afford those, you could be starting there at the end of August.

If these are over budget, there may be affordable schools that are pretty social in Europe. Business schools tend to be pretty social overall !

How much can your family afford to pay to send you to college in the United States? Start there.
