Unique about Vandy curriculum....

What do you think is unique about the Vanderbilt academic curriculum in relation with course structure, professor-help, etc…?

nothing, it has a core and you can take classes in your school easily. Most courses can’t be taken pass fail. so it is no Brown with respect to diversity of curriculum.

You won’t see a TA your entire trip. Freshman seminars are very intimate. You will have very few classes with more than 30 people once you get into your major and even in sections most often taken to simply fulfill required classes. Most of my classes were high teens in enrollment number. Virtually all the professors I had in my major knew my first and last name outside the classroom and not just during the semester I was in one of their sections. Some introduction lecture sections are larger, of course.

I had HS friends at all the top schools, and we talked about academic experiences a lot since we all planned on grad school. There seemed to be little difference in the way the education was delivered and consumed within this cohort. There’s no senior thesis at Vanderbilt and a few other schools have oddball grading systems for some small part of the four year experience. And then there are things like freshman seminars that are a little unique at Vandy.

You need to stop posting with a N.D. handle if you really want us to take your serious. Kidding of course, but if the golden dome is your number one choice; don’t be scared to mention this. There are many who’ve made the decision between Vandy and N.D. I’m biased, but there is no poor outcome if it comes down to a coin flip for you.
