Unique Situation - Where Should I Apply

I started off going to community college where I earned 58 units with a pedestrian 2.7 GPA. I transferred to the University of Hawai’i at Manoa where I was majoring in Psychology. I spent a semester there getting pedestrian grades, doing research for a professor, and taking practice teats for the GRE (Graduate Record School Examinations). In my second semester, I started ditching classes and hanging out in the library readings books on film. I decided to drop out of UH and move to Hollywood to pursue a career in writing and directing. I moved to Hollywood took some night classes on film at LA City College. I also did a few internships that proved fruitful and I received job offers, but I turned them down to go back to school. Now I’m back at my original community college getting a 4.0 and looking to transfer Double majoring in Film and English with a Creative Writing focus.

My problem is that I have almost 100 semester units and I was put on academic probation at the University of Hawaii. It seems like the “easier schools” are actually shying away from my unique situation where as some of the more selective schools seem to love transfer students like me.

Here’s where I’m applying:

Stanford
Boston University
Emerson
Syracuse

What are some East Coast schools that would love a student like me with a checkered past, but plenty of potential?

Emerson, Hampshire, UMASS and Clark! Good luck!
