Unite for Sight

Is any one familiar with this program? I’m thinking of pursuing it for summer 2009, and at the same time, hopefully pursuing some sort of clinical research study with the patients I see (i.e. design a survey type that may examine what types of alternative treatments, either safe or dangerous, common people use to treat eye infections in Africa and India).

I can either do this, or I can apply to this rainforest expedition program that my school offers. We would go to a rainforest over spring break, and spend 10 weeks during the summer doing research. However, it is not guaranteed that I will get into this program, and I am also in the process of getting research started at my school’s medical school anyway. I might pursue this rainforest expedition during my junior year instead (currently a sophomore).

Would Unite for Sight be a better choice? (For those of you who are not familiar, Unite for Sight is a service program in Africa/India where volunteers receive some ophthalmologic training and screen patients and help out with cataract operations to help save people’s eyesight).

bump…

bump (10 char)

Triple posting will get you nowhere.

^^ Why don’t you go out and make some friends, as hard as that would be if your personality reflects the manifest elitism in your posts. But thank you for bumping my post all the same.

Is anyone here able to give me some input?

You realize how stupid telling someone to make friends on the internet sounds right…? Give it some time, you bumped twice within 24 hours.

hmmmm… bump

I would highly recommend you do it. Given how competitive it is right now, such a program would seem fantastic as it will shed new light on your personality and give you valuable experiences that you can write on your personal statement and essays on.

thank you!
