United Nations salary

How much do people working for the UN or other big international organisations earn? Whats the best wage you can get as a polit. science major from Upenn lets say in a couple of years out of college?

the sky is the limit… just look at kofi annan and his son…

Yeah, it really depends on what you do and where you work. Working for the UN necessarily mean working at the HQ in New York. Here’s the link to the current job vacancies https://jobs.un.org/Galaxy/Release3/vacancy/vacancy.aspx.

unfortunately it’s going to be a bit tougher for you to make a nice salary at the UN now that the oil for food program no longer exists…

but just remember if you play your cards right… you too can swindle large amounts of money away from those who need it!

sorry for being bitter and not contributing anything…i’m just not a big fan of the UN :(

You won’t make much fresh out of school. A job like that looks highly on more education (masters and PhDs) and even more highly on LOADS of professional experience (we’re talking a decade or more [at least] to break into the six figures)

If you want an idea, pick up an issue of The Economist and read through the job classifieds. A lot of UN agencies advertise (for senior executives) in there. The pay is not as good as you’d think, for the kind of experience you need as well as the amount of work you will ultimately put in.

lol the UN… our puppet organization…
