LEGACY

 • Brother attended the Air Force Academy

THANK YOU for your time and help it is GREATLY Appreciated

My brother is class of '94. My father was also stationed at USAFA before I was even born, so I feel a special attachment to the school.

No such thing as ‘out of state’ for the service academies.

Are you trying to get there on the merits of soccer or academically? Your ECs seem to come down to soccer and CAP. There are some other things there, too, but ultimately you have those two bigger ones. CAP is good as it shows you have a long interest in flight.

Grades are a bit light. Focus on getting them up or going for the soccer recruitment. You may also need to work on your state representatives to make sure they know your interest. Ultimately, you need an appointment as well.

USAFA is not a legacy type school, so your brother having attended only really helps in that he should be able to give you insights into what to expect.

Good luck!

Sorry for the confusuion this was the same résumé I used for University of Michigan chance thread and forgot to take out the, “Out of State” part. Thanks for the feedback. This is the same application I sent to Summer Seminar and I am ideally seeking to get in with soccer as it’s the most simple way if I earn it, but in case it doesn’t work out I want to know if I have a strong application to get in without it.

Well your GPA is slightly below avergae but if you can get a 31 or 32 on the ACT that could help. Your ECs are strong too with a nice mix of athletics and service. High match.

My Thread (chance back please): <a href=“Chances for Vanderbilt, UNC, NYU, UF, and Duke? - Chance Me / Match Me! - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1610985-chances-for-vanderbilt-unc-nyu-uf-and-duke-p1.html</a>

I believe you need a letter of recommendation from your Representative/Senator to attend Air Force, so you might want to get on that if you haven’t already. Other than that, it looks pretty good.

Forget the chances. If you want to go, apply. Then have a good “Plan B” such as the AFROTC scholarship or you favorite in-state university.

You do not need to contact your Senator or Congressman until this summer, at the earliest, but August or September is more like it. The AFROTC scholarship application can be started on June 1st. So you have plenty of time to figure out what you want and establish your priorities. Then… GO FOR IT!
