<p>Would like any advice or info you can share about these two schools. Specifically, how are freshmen acclimated to a new environment? What programs are available? Any caveats? My D is stressed- can’t make a decision since both schools offer so much. If you are a parent at either of these schools, your wisdom/help is much appreciated!</p>
<p>Acclimatizing should be similar on both campuses as both are very large, highly spirited campuses. A lively student should be able to find her ‘people’ and her niche at either place.</p>
<p>Differences a freshman girl might notice include:
USC attracts wealthier students; ie with extravagant clothing allowances
LA more exciting/more of a challenge than Ann Arbor</p>
<p>She’s got great choices either way. Well done to her for putting those choices on the table for herself.</p>
<p>My suggestion of the day – post this question on both the U of M board and the USC boards/foreums. (Or at least read past threads on them.) Students from both schools would love to tell you why your daughter should go there. See if anything jumps out. And ignore the complaints about the weather in Michigan. It’s not really that bad!</p>
