University Division for Pre-med track aspring students

I understand the concept and the process but wondering what it would be like for med school aspring students. Will that even work? Will you be able to utilize pre-health advising if you are in UD?

You’ll certainly be able to access a list of courses needed. I don’t see why not advising wise - but why not call and hear directly from the source itself? Then you can learn the exact path to make this happen. Good luck.

Are you a high school student thinking of attending IU?

We invite you to attend an information session with a Health Professions and Prelaw Center advisor.

These meetings are scheduled through the IU Office of Admissions. Go to this online form or call 812.855.0661 to schedule a visit that will include meeting with a HPPLC advisor. All visits with prospective students and parents are scheduled through the IU Office of Admissions.

Premed is just an intention and a set of courses that can be gen eds for a lot of majors.
Basically, it means that your 1st semester, you take Freshman English, General Chemistry1+Lab, Calculus 1, and either Psychology or Sociology + sometimes Spanish or another language. 2nd semester, you take General Chemistry 2+ Lab, General Biology1+ Lab, Statistics or Biostats, either Psychology or sociology, and another gen ed (art or more Spanish/Foreign Language especially if your college offers a version of an advanced course " for the health professions").
Alongside all this, you join clubs that allow you to volunteer and help others.
If you have a very high GPA and got As in all your science/math courses you are still premed. If not, time to switch.
There’s very little pre Health advising before then at large public universities :).
So, being in University Division does not block or stop anything.
