University of Alabama Fall '24 Admissions

So did everyone get their choice of dorms? Planning for Bama Bound?

Just wanted to check in to see what is happening with everyone.

We are headed to Bama Bound on June 10 and 11.

Got my choice of dorms, but not suitmates. Oh well! Knew filling a 4 person suite together would be difficult with our late selection date

New friends- congrats.

Which dorm - Ridgecrest_______

So I’m looking at the schedule builder we can access through our portal. It shows that all sections of Honors Bio I and all 66 sections of Chemistry I are completely full. Taking regular Bio I isn’t a huge deal, but as a premed student someone please either tell me this must be a glitch or it’s totally normal for a premed student not to start their chemistry sequence until second semester :sob:

Also, if I take many more higher-level biology classes, could I use my AP Biology credit for Biology I and II? I’m worried the general level will feel super easy since AP Biology came very easily to me

You might ask an advisor.

If you’re in Honors, they go ahead of other first year. I assume you are in Honors given your NMF.

I’ll wait for other answers on whether the class is appropriate given your goals - that I don’t know.

Did you get in the McCullough pre-med program?

Good luck

They open up spots at each Bama Bound, so you may not be shut out.

We were looking at Honors Bio too, it may just take Bio for non-majors if it’s full since that’s all required for her degree.

Yeah my mom said someone told her the classes fill up at bama bound then they open more for the next session or something like that, so I’ll just mostly ignore it until my actual orientation session

So I was originally a child development major and intended to graduate a year early and get a masters in 4 years with a 4+1 program. To do McCullough, I was told I have to major in the college of arts and sciences (child development is not) and could not graduate early. Now I’m majoring in an arts and sciences major and no longer really intend to graduate early, but it’s too late
Oh well!

If you go to My Bama, Student, and Look up classes, you can see how big those classes were last fall. It will give you an idea of the end size compared to today. They definitely open some up for each Bama Bound. And more will open in August as bills don’t get paid and schedules are dropped. We had luck checking at 12-2pm on the 2nd day of Bama Bound all summer for making changes.

Thank you!!

Honors only have priority registration AFTER the first semester. They do not going into first semester.

Didn’t know - thanks

I would certainly be with the pre med advisor, etc. before taking the wrong class…that I know. And hopefully if the student can’t pre register, maybe they can in the first week as others drop.
